Joseph Sweet Sr.

FRANKFORT – Mr. Joseph Sweet, Sr., age 76, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at the MVHS St. Elizabeth Campus.

Born on March 1, 1947, Joseph was the son of the late Angelo and Mary (Tripoli) Sweet. He was raised and educated in Frankfort and attended local schools. Joe then went on to honorably serve his nation with the United States Army.

For many years Joe worked at the Union Fork and Hoe in Frankfort, but his real trade was auto body work; a craft that, not only did he enjoy, but allowed him to be his own boss at his own shop.

Anyone that knew Joe could tell you that he was a one of a kind character who enjoyed life and truly did things “his way!” His presence and sense of humor will be missed by all those he leaves behind.

He is survived by his son, Joe Sweet, Jr. and his wife, Chip, of West Winfield; his grandchildren, Angelo Sweet, Ariana Sweet and Cesar and Harmony Ramos; his sister, Bernadette Enjem; his buddies, Pete Scholl and Pat Gatto; a special friend, Liz; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Mary; and by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Matthew Zennamo and Phyllis and Augustine Fraccola.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Joe's calling hours on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 10:00AM - 12:00NOON at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Joe's funeral service will commence at 12:00NOON at the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation, with Rev. Paul Catena officiating. Procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery where Joe's earthly remains will be laid to rest with his parents.
