DOLGEVILLE - HERKIMER - Mr. Joseph M. DeCarr, age 52, passed away surrounded with love on Wednesday January 28, 2015 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown after a brief illness.
He was born on April 9, 1962 in Herkimer a son of Robert J. DeCarr and the late Mary (Ward) DeCarr. He attended St. Francis de Sales School and Herkimer High School. Joe went on to receive his Associate's Degree in Accounting from the Utica School of Commerce. Joe had a passion for wood working and worked throughout the Valley in the construction trade. He had a special love of his cat "Boots."
He is survived by his father Robert J. DeCarr of Ilion, his siblings, Robert (Jim) DeCarr and wife Margaret of East Herkimer, Julie DeCarr of Herkimer, Mary Kay Davis of Dolgeville, John DeCarr and wife Regina of Henrietta, NY, Patricia "Patty" DeCarr and fiance´e Gary Spanfelner of Herkimer, and Ann Smith of Ilion, his aunt and uncle, Lois and Harold DeCarr of Utica, and many very special nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary, his paternal and maternal grandparents, nephews Robert & James DeCarr, his step - mother, Edith DeCarr, and several aunts and uncles and his brother - in - law, Jon Davis.
His funeral arrangements are with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Town of Frankfort), Ilion, NY under the direction of Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors. (315) 894-8000. Calling hours for Mr. DeCarr will be on Sunday February 1st, 2015 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm in Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion - Frankfort location. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 4th, 2015 at 11:00 am in Saint Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer with the Very Reverend Mark Cunningham V.F., Pastor officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, in the spring where he will be laid to rest alongside his mom. A very special thanks is offered to Bassett Medical Center, Dr. Karen McGinnis and the Bassett pastoral clergy representative Rev. Betsy Jay for the support shown during this unexpected and difficult time.
