HERKIMER - Joseph (Joey) Collins, of Herkimer, passed away, July 13, 2024, after fighting a long illness, with never a complaint and he was always heard saying “there is always someone else worse off than I am."
He was born in Utica, on August 16, 1968, to the late Etson and Linda (Keyes) Collins. He was joined in marriage to Melodyann Hailston, on June 12, 1993, at St.Anthony’s Church, in Herkimer, NY.
Before his illness took over you could always find Joey getting his coffee at Stewart’s and DJ’ing all over the valley. He was an avid Yankees and Jets fan.
He is survived by his wife, Melodyann; his best friend, Jimmy Castellano; his 5 sisters; his 1 brother; his 4 children, Devin, Teresa, Kenzie and Kendell; as well as his 9 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; and friend, Harry Enea.
Services consisting of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Frankfort/Ilion, with a small gathering following, at the First United Methodist Church, 127 North Prospect Street, in Herkimer, New York.
Joseph’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors (315) 894-8000.
