Jon Richard Davis

DOLGEVILLE-Jon Richard Davis, 58, of East Timmerman St., passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, July 20, 2008 in the comfort of his home. He was born on May 14, 1950 in Little Falls, son of the late George R. and Margaret (Quackenbush) Davis and graduated from Dolgeville High School. In June of 1974 he married the love of his life Mary Kay DeCarr in St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer and they have enjoyed a union of 34 years.Jon proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict with the United States Army enlisting in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1973. He was last employed as a custodian with Ilion Central Schools, retiring in February of 2006. Mr. Davis was loved and respected by his family, friends and co-workers and will be sadly missed. Even though he was faced with the difficulties of his illness, he never let it get him down. He leaves is wife Mary Kay at home; his father in law: Robert DeCarr of Ilion; four daughters: Helena Marie Davis and companion John Yaworski of Jordanville, Erin (Davis) Roman of Herkimer, Melissa Poplawski and husband John of Utica and Kristy Evans and husband Joe of Rome; a brother: Mark Davis and wife Jennie of Howells; a sister: Nancy Schmidt and husband Rick of Brick, NJ; eight grandchildren: Michael, Emily, and Mathew of Jordanville, Jon, Lindsey and Nicole of Dolgeville and Isabelle and Joey of Rome; many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins. In respecting Mr. Davis' wishes, there are no public calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, at 10 am on Friday, July 25, 2008 with the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor officiating. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where his cremains will be buried. In Jon's memory, kindly consider an offering to the David Whalen Memorial Park Fund, or to Hospice Care, Inc. who took wonderful care of Jon during his illness. Cremation and funeral arrangements are being handled by the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home of Dolgeville, NY.
