John S. Sauer, age 60, of 6 Church St., Mohawk, passed away unexpectedly at home Thursday evening, June 9, 2005. John was born February 6, 1945 in Herkimer, son of the late Spencer E. and Dallas Pearl (Petrie) Sauer. John attended Mohawk High School and served six years with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. John was united in marriage to Karen E. Smith, a devoted union of over 37 years. John worked as an assembly electrician at Orion Bus Corp., and prior to that was employed by Mele Mfg., Utica for 20 years. John was a private man whose life was centered around his beloved family. John leaves his wife, Karen, at home; three daughters, Jennie Harrington of Syracuse, Julia Twaddle of New Hampshire, and Joanne Stephanie Sauer of San Francisco, CA; one son, John Stephen Sauer, at home; five grandsons, Roger and Kenneth Robinson of Mississippi, and Alistair, Marshall, and Garion Twaddle of New Hampshire; two sisters, Jean Barney of Whitesboro, and Rodena Sauer of Mohawk; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and also his two beloved Corgi canine companions, "Tristyn" and "Candy." He was predeceased by his brother, Dean Sauer in 1970. Family and friends are invited to visitation Sunday, June 12th, from 3-6 p.m. at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk. John's funeral service will be held Monday commencing at 11 a.m. at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, Mohawk, with Pastor Jack Cogar officiating. Procession to Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, for interment, will follow. Those wishing to do so may consider memorials in John's name to Spring Farm Cares or the charity of your choice.
