Born on December 4, 1942, John was the youngest son of the late Salvatore and Antoinette (Surace) Rando. He spent his childhood in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. In the fall and winter months he would utilize his 70-acre hunting camp in Newport. In the spring and summer, he could be found out in his garden or up at his camp on Canadarago Lake.
He was a very intelligent man who enjoyed the simple beauty of nature and any time that he could spend with his family. He was a longtime parishioner of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church in Herkimer.
John is survived by his sisters, Angela Piscitello of Utica and Adeline Gorea of Frankfort; his nephew, Jack (Lynnette) Tresoline; his nieces, Karin (John) Piseck, Sheri Ferdula and Patti Tresoline; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Alex Tresoline, AJ Tresoline, Ashley Tresoline, Mike (Hayley) Zipko, Jamie Zipko and Jake Ferdula; a great-great nephew, Andrew Zipko; two aunts, Mary Gigliotti of Herkimer and Josephine (John) Iocovozzi of Florida; along with several cousins and longtime friends, Vernon and Rebecca Volo.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Salvatore Rando, Jr. and George Rando; his brothers-in-law, Charles J. Piscitello and John J. Gorea; and by his nephew, Anthony Tresoline, Jr.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend John’s funeral service which will commence on Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023 at 10:00AM at Sts.
