John K. Mcharg

Mr. John K. McHarg, age 82, currently of Vernon and formerly of Rome and Ilion, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, August 4, 2018, in the privacy and comfort of his home.

Born on May 11, 1936, in Ilion, John was the son of the late Charles G. and Katherine (King) McHarg. He grew up in Ilion and spent his life in various adult homes throughout the area, where he made many friends with the staff and residents alike.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Doris McHarg of New Hartford; his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ben May of Florida; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Jim Venditte.

In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no public funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family, and John's earthly remains will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Herkimer.
