John J. MacLean, Jr., of 109 Hopson Road, Dolgeville, NY passed away on Tuesday, Novemebr16, 2010, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY from a prolonged illness, with his loving family at his side.



He was born on January 31, 1939 at Port Richmond, Staten Island, NY, the son of the late Jack and Elizabeth (Ferjanec) MacLean. He attended high school in Little Falls. He joined the Navy at age 17 on March 6, 1956 and served until December11, 1959 when he was honorably discharged at the rank of AN. He was united in marriage to Donna (Crossman) MacLean by Town Justice Carl Barnes December 4, 1972. John was employed by Remington Arms from 1968-1999 when he retired.



His personal interests were in coin collecting, die cast car collecting and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.



He is survived by his wife Donna of Dolgeville; his two sons, Dean R. MacLean and wife Mi Suk of Dover AFB, DE; John J. MacLean III and wife Faith of Perth, NY; and a daughter Shelly and Herman Mosher, of Utica, NY; a sister Beverly Trasky and husband Merwin of Inghams Mills, NY; and Aunt Katherine Kolarik of Herkimer and an Uncle Thomas Skandera of Herkimer, NY. He was predeceased by his sister Gloria Langer, October 14, 2001 of Manchester, CT and a daughter, Hydia Browning Aug 26, 2010, of Jacksonville, FL. He enjoyed all of his grandchildren, Cody MacLean of Anchorage, AK; John MacLean IV of Amsterdam, Christopher and Jessica MacLean (Sweet pea) of Perth, NY; Joshua, Chelsea, and Jacob Mosher of Utica, NY; and Kendall Pirtle of Jacksonville, FL. Three great grandchildren, Joshua and Emily Mosher of Utica; and Hailey Ann MacLean of Amsterdam, NY.



In keeping with his wishes there are no calling hours or funeral services.
