ILION – John J. Hight, age 60, passed away, on May 28, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with Alzheimers and Dementia. John’s passing occurred in the privacy and comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved most and the cherished memories of his beloved wife, Judy.
He was born in Ilion, on February 9, 1964. John is the son of the late Lloyd and Lucy (Smaldone) Hight. He was raised and educated in Ilion.
On August 25, 1989, John was married to the love of his life, Judith A. “Judy” (Loomis) Hight and together they shared in a loving and devoted marriage, raising five children, for over thirty-three years.
Many of our immediate family will remember dad “reading the paper,” and “going up and down the bend.” In his spare time, he loved being around his wife, children and grandchildren and nothing gave him greater joy than time spent with them.
He is survived by his beloved family: his five children, Kristi Hight, (the late Vernon Patterson, 2021), of Ilion, Joshua Hight and Giovanni Maldonado, of Gloversville, Andrew Hight and Brandon Sykes, of Little Falls and Sarah Hight and David Jones, of Mohawk; his several grandchildren, Jordan, Sincere, Antonio, Alexis, Zamiree, McKenna, and Xavier. He also leaves his siblings, Ted Hight, of Ilion, Dale Hight, and patricia Hight, of Schuyler and LuAnn Young and David Young, of Ilion; his niece, RaeAnn Young; his In-Laws, Becky (Mark) Fresco, of Ilion and the late Harley Loomis and Mindy, of South Carolina; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Lucy (Smaldone) Hight; his In-Laws, Harley Loomis, Donna Loomis and Merlin Loomis.
A Graveside Service for John and his wife, Judith will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, New York. There are no calling hours.
His family has entrusted his care to the Enea, Ciaccia and Applegate Funeral Directors, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, New York 13357 (315) 894-8000.
