LITTLE FALLS - Mr. John Bernard Danehy, age 84, of West Hartford Connecticut, a native of Little Falls, died on Saturday evening September 20, 2014 in Connecticut.
He was born on September 11, 1930 in Little Falls, a son of the late Mary Louise (Decaire) and Leo J. Danehy. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy, and also from the University of Hartford in Connecticut. Mr. Danehy served in the United States Army and at one time was a sports editor for the Little Falls Evening Times. He was employed by the department of Social Services of the City of Hartford, CT. He was married to Kathleen Carey in Willimantic, CT.
Bernard was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and the New York Giants football team. He loved all sports and remembered all statistics. He is survived by two brothers Thomas and Tim Danehy and one sister Mary Ellen (John) Conroy and several nieces and nephews who loved him and cherished him and he loved them.
He was predeceased by his parents and one sister Catherine (Hank) McQueeney.
His family has arranged for a mass at Holy Family Parish in Little Falls on Monday October 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Terence Healy, Pastor, officiating. Burial in family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Arrangements are by The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY under the direction of Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea (315) 823-2424.
