John Borowicz

MOHAWK-John Borowicz, age 83, of 81 Walnut St., Mohawk, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Little Falls Hospital. He was born on October 16, 1924, in Syracuse, NY, the son of Joseph and Helen Borowicz. John was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. St. Paul. On April 30, 1949, he was married to Helen Karpowich in E. Herkimer. John was employed as a test set operator at Western Electric in Syracuse for 38 years, retiring in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Helen; his daughter, Doreen Borowicz, of Clifton Park, NY; his son, Bob Borowicz and his wife, Lisa, of Tampa, FL; his grandson, Devon Mancini, of Clifton Park, NY; his brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Lorraine Borowicz, of Syracuse; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Sophie Zacharek. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Graves-Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, with Pastor Harry Teuchert officiating. Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, May 23, 2008, from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
