John A. Ahern

John Anthony Ahern, age 76, of Ilion, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

He was born on August 1, 1950, to the late Jack and Rose (Tuzzolino) Ahern. On April 7, 1979, he married the former Gale Andrews who predeceased him on April 2, 1999. Together they had two sons, Ryan and Scott.

On July 27, 2013, John married Linda Williams, he is survived by his loving wife Linda and his siblings Anthony Ahern, Anne Robinson, Mary (John) Philippone, and Elizabeth Palumbo. His siblings affectionately referred to him as "Pumpkin Head.

John is survived by grandsons: Henry, Teddy, Clark, Graham and Wesley John. Nephews and nieces: Matthew Walawender, Christian Philippone (Sarah), Alexis Scampone (Genaro), Kate Wannemacher (Eric) and Ellen Ahern. A special Aunt, Mary Sportello, brother-in-law Mark Andrews, sister-in-law Arlene Roth (Bruce), Janet Beaudette (Bob) his stepson, Ryan Williams (Leesa) step-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Zoey, Alena, Isla and Rylan. Special friends, Bob Dulak, Craig Cureau, Al Tanner Bill Lennox and Pat Brown.

John excelled in many sports whether on the golf course, tennis courts, basketball court or track. John graduated from Frankfort Schuyler High School class of 1968 and earned a bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego. John was employed by the ARC for 30 years in numerous positions. He was also predeceased by sisters-in-law Suzanne Ahern and Rita Andrews.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the Enea, Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY 13357. A prayer service will begin at 11:30 a.m. officiated by Pastor Chris Wintermute.
