ILION – Jill Marie Miller, age 65, a beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024 at the Abraham House in Utica, where she received compassionate care and help in dying with dignity.
Born on January 21, 1959, Jill was the daughter of the late Charles and Joan (LaGrand) Rockefeller. On June 3, 1978, Jill was married to the love of her life, Randolph G. “Randy” Miller and together they spent over forty-two years in a loving and devoted union. Randy passed away on January 18, 2021.
A homemaker most of her life, Jill enjoyed providing for her husband and sons. She prided herself in making sure they never went without. She always made sure her children were well-fed, no matter how tough times got.
One of Jill’s favorite things to do was spend time in her flower garden. She adored flowers of all kinds, enjoying the many colors and scents. She was an avid bird watcher; especially enjoying watching the hummingbirds feed on the nectar of her flowers! She also loved taking walks with her beloved chihuahua, Miley.
Of course, those who knew Jill best, will recall her often lounging in the sun with a Coors Light in one hand, a smoke in the other and raucous conversation to boot!
Jill was truly a giver. A giver of life, a giver of joy, a giver of support and a giver of constant love. Never one to hold a grudge, she was also a giver of forgiveness, even if it wasn’t deserved. She never had a bad word to say about someone she loved and those who were blessed to know her will forever feel the void without her earthly presence.
Jill is survived by her sons, Shaun Miller, Nick Miller and Stephen Miller; her grandson, Ethan Miller; her cousin and close friend, Cheryl Densten; her sisters, Pamela Mendoza, Kristen Richards, Diane Black, Karen Rockefeller and Bonnie Rockefeller; her brother, Gary Rockefeller; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In keeping with Jill’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Her family gathered in a private ceremony to bid their farewells to her.
For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Jill’s name to the Abraham House, 1203 Kemble Street, Utica, NY 13501.
The Miller family as entrusted the care of their beloved mother to the Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors. Online notes of sympathy may be left at
