Jesse Jones

d. July 2, 2003

Mr. Jesse D. Jones, a longtime Dolgeville resident, beloved husband of Inez Jones, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday afternoon, July 2, 2003 in the comfort of his home. Jesse was born on November 13, 1916 in Little Falls, a son of the late George and Reva (Durrand) Jones. He received his education in Little Falls schools. He moved to Dolgeville 64 years ago shortly after being united in marriage with the former Inez Bettinger. They were married on June 17, 1939 in Little Falls and the couple was blessed with 64 years of marriage. Jesse proudly served his country enlisting with the United States Army. His last employment was with the Village of Dolgeville where he was the 1st assistant to the waste water treatment plant operator. Although he served this job with dedication, his true passion was at home in his garage where he spent countless hours welding for anyone that needed his services. This was truly an example of how Jesse was intuitively sensitive to the needs of others. He had a deep appreciation for this talent that he was given. He was at one time employed by the Cherry-Burrell Corporation. Jesse assisted in building his camp on Oak Mountain in Salisbury where he and his family enjoyed many wonderful times. He was an exemplary family man establishing close and personal relationships with his loved ones and touched their hearts and lives. He loved spending time with his black labs. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Inez, of Dolgeville, two sons, David J. and wife Roxanne E. Jones of Herkimer, Richard A. and wife Michelle A. Jones of Dolgeville, a daughter in law, Betsy Jones of Dolgeville, a brother, Victor Jones and wife Alice of Florida, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel J. Jones, a brother George Jones and two sisters, Loretta Giarusso, and Doris DeNitto. The family invites relatives and friends to visitation at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Thursday evening, (tonight) from 6-8 p.m. Jesse's funeral will commence at 10 am on Friday morning, July 4 from the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Barry Smith, pastor of the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church officiating. Procession will follow to Dolgeville Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Family and friends are invited to consider expressions of sympathy to the Alzheimer's Association, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
