IN LOVING MEMORY

MOHAWK – Mr. Jerry Francis Crouch, age 83, raised, educated, and a lifelong resident of Mohawk, New York, passed away on April 16th, 2026, at the Abraham House in Utica, New York. Jerry withstood a brief yet courageous battle with Lymphoma with his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Janet, always at his side.

He was born on November 3rd, 1942, in Herkimer, New York to parents Vernon and Jane (Nelson) Crouch. He attended Mohawk Central School. In his early years, Jerry loved racing Go Carts and snowmobiles and enjoyed going to Fonda Speedway. In later years he spent time camping and going to antique and flea markets with friends.

Jerry met his wife Janet (Orendorf) at the roller-skating rink in Richfield Springs. On April 6th, 1963, they were married in the Ilion United Methodist Church. Together, they raised two children in a loving home.

Jerry worked at Burrill Saw and Tool in Mohawk for several years while establishing his welding and fabricating business. Jerry was well respected for his knowledge, workmanship, and ability to fix just about anything. In his retirement years, Jerry enjoyed working at his daughter and son-in-law’s dairy farm on Robinson Road. He would spend hours driving truck during hay and corn season. He took great pride in helping out and sharing his ‘fix it’ expertise when something broke. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet, his children, Jill (Darrell) Gilbert, and Joel (Christine) Crouch, his grandchildren, Joshua (Alexandra Smith) Gilbert, Ryan Gilbert, Alexis (Nathan Brewer) Gilbert, Gabrielle Draper, Morgan Crouch, Jayden Crouch, and great-grandchildren, Lily, Violet, and Rain Draper, and Reese Brewer. Jerry leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and David Rockwell, brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Terri Crouch, James and Laurie Crouch, and his sister-in-law Eleanor Crouch, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Jane Crouch, grandparents, Earl and Edith Crouch, as well as In-Laws, Floyd and Iva Orendorf, his brother, Thomas Crouch, his grand-son-in-law, Jon Draper, and his beloved infant son, Jeffrey Crouch.

A very special graveside service will be held at Mohawk Cemetery later this spring at a time private and convenient for his family. There are no calling hours nor formal funeral services.
