Mohawk: Jennifer J. Polley, 41, of Mohawk, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 17, 2013, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 14, 1971, in Ilion, the daughter of Kenneth and Gloria (Brewer) Polley. Jen was a graduate of Mohawk High School, Herkimer County Community College and Utica College. She obtained her Master's Degree in Psychology at Capella University where she was currently working on her Doctorate. Jen was a professor at Bryant & Stratton College in Syracuse and also was an adjunct professor at Herkimer County Community College.
Jen, during her free time enjoyed reading, playing Wii and traveling. She was an avid cyclist and swimmer who enjoyed the outdoors especially her walks with her canine kids, Lakota and Shilah. Jen had a passion for teaching which she took pride in. She was a big fan of Winnie the Pooh. Her greatest love was her family and spending time with them. Her family and friends will miss her and her wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her parents; Ken and Gloria Polley of Ilion; her grandfather, Squire Byard of Ilion; her brothers and sister-in-law, Kenny Polley and his fiance´e Lisa Phillips and Jeremy and Heather Polley, all of Ilion; her nieces and nephew, Megan, Hailey and Jeremy Jr. and his fiance´e, Haylee; great niece, Leah; her canine children, Lakota and Shilah; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jen also leaves her very special and dear friends, Paulette Potter, Linda Wyndham and Allison Gauthier. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Grant Brewer and grandmother, Jean Byard.
Jen's funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 from the chapel of the Graves-Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, Town of Frankfort, with Reverend Ed Reed and John Brewer, co-officiating. Spring interment will take place in N. Columbia Cemetery, Ilion at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, January 21, 2013, from 10 a.m until the time of the service at the funeral home. Contributions, in Jen's memory, may be offered to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
