HERKIMER - Jeffrey “Jeff” Hayes, age 62, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
Jeff was born in New Hartford, NY, on December 14, 1960, the son of Wesley and Beverly Hayes (Kress). He was a graduate of Remsen Central School and Hobart College. Jeff wore many “hats” in his lifetime: Son, brother, husband, uncle, cousin, nephew, cook, baker, businessman and long time employee at St.Lukes’s Hospital as a project coordinator. Jeff was most proud of being a father and grandfather. Jeff had a love for music and musicals, (mostly “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” & “The Music Man”). He enjoyed shooting darts, playing pool, Florida beaches, crossword puzzles and reading.
Jeff is predeceased by his father, Wesley; his mother, Beverly; As well as his grandparents, aunts, uncles and his dear cousin, Linda.
Jeff is survived by his son, Jacob (Jamie), of Rome; his daughters, Sarah (Rich), of Bridgeport, Rebecca (Jason), of Marcy; his 9 grandchildren: Kadyn, Tyler, Michael, Hailey, Hunter, Matthew, Gianna, Jason Jr. and Caterina; his sisters, Susan and Colleen; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a thank you to Bassett Hospital ICU medical staff, with a special thank you to his nurse, Kyle, who provided Jeff and his family with empathy and compassion during his stay.
At Jeffrey’s request there will be no services. Jeffrey only asks for everyone to be kind to one another and to live life to the fullest and without regrets.
At Jeffrey’s request, all arrangements have been entrusted to Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
