Jeanne P. (Bennett) Ganey
April 22, 1941 — July 13, 2023
ILION – Jeanne P. (Bennett) Ganey, age 82, formerly of E. North St., Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Hartford, NY, with her family by her side.
She was born on April 22, 1941, in Herkimer, the daughter of Robert and Virginia (Blaisdell) Bennett and graduated from Ilion High School, in 1959. At one time, she was married to William “Bill” Ganey, who died on March 23, 1988. Jeanne worked at Chicago Pneumatic Co., in Utica, W.T. Grant’s, in Ilion, General Electric Co. and Baker’s Greenhouse, Utica, NY. She enjoyed her time doing crafts, sewing, craft shows, fairs and farmer’s markets.
Surviving family members include her 2 daughters, Cookie Ganey, of Ilion and Jodi Ganey, of Somerville, MA; her son, William “Billy” Ganey, of Frankfort; her 2 sisters, Kathy Gardner and her husband, John, of Old Forge and Sharon Carlesimo, of Frankfort; her brother, Raymond Bennett and his wife, Sandy, of Schuyler; her sister-in-law, Liz Bennett, of E. Herkmer; her granddaughter, Allison Ganey, of Utica; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thanks to Michelle Trey, for all of her help and support over the years and also a thank you to several other friends and relatives of Jean for their support.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her sister, Bertha Bennett; her 2 brothers, Bobby and Earl Bennett; and her brother-in-law, Peter Carlesimo.
A Celebration of Jean’s Life and Graveside Committal Prayer Service will be held 12 noon, Friday, July 21, 2023, at Armory Hill Cemetery, Benedict Ave., Ilion.

In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Ilion Ambulance Fund, Ilion Central Fire Station, 1 Central Ave., Ilion, NY 13357. Envelopes will also be available at the Cemetery Service, on Friday.
