Jean A. Corwin

NEWPORT-ILION – Jean A. Corwin, age 78, of Farrell Rd. , Newport , passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018, at home.

She was born on July 1, 1940, in Beria , Ohio , the daughter of Ralph E. Usher and Virginia M. (Ziegler) Usher and attended schools in Ohio .  At one time, she was married to Asa B. Corwin, who died in May 2009.  Jean was employed as an assembler at General Electric Co., Utica , for 27 years, retiring in 1987.  She was a horse lover.

Surviving family members include her brother, Roderick Usher and his wife, Susan; her sisters, Laura Tobak and her husband,Thomas, and Karen Usher;  several nieces; nephews; and her caregivers, Barbara and James Tasovac.

She was predeceased by her sister, Cheryl.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 5:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location, at 102 West St., Ilion, with Pastor Jack Partise, of the First Baptist Church of Ilion, officiating.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. prior to the funeral home service.
