UTICA - Mrs. Jayne A. Zammiello, age 87, left this earth on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017, when she passed away, peacefully, in her sleep.
Born in Utica on November 14, 1929, Jayne was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Eva (McComb) Hammill. She was raised and educated in Utica, and in August of 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Zammiello. Together, they shared 48 years until his passing in 1994. A lifelong Utica resident, Jayne retired from G.E. in 1999.
Jayne was a beautiful, kind-hearted woman; her fun-loving, easy going ways and contagious sense of humor will forever be in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She will be loved and remembered by her children, Randi Giruzzi of Utica, Louie Zammiello of Ithaca, Ken and Barb Zammiello of Frankfort, and Tammy Zammiello and Lisa Daley of Frankfort; as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves her special brother-in-law, George Retchle and his wife, Elaine; her sister-in-law, Irene Hammill; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved so much and who have been so good to her. She also leaves to mourn, her special cousins from up North.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by all of her siblings, and her first-born grandchild, Ronald Giruzzi.
A special thank you is extended to Dr. Fred Talarico, Nurse Practitioner Pat Rosati and staff; as well as to the staff of Valley Health Services in Herkimer.
A Memorial Mass in honor of Jayne's life will commence on Monday morning, February 27, 2017, at 10:00AM at St. Mark's Church in North Utica, officiated by Rev. Mark Pasik.
Her body will be laid to rest, prior to mass, at a graveside committal service on Monday morning, February 27, 2017, at 9:00AM at St. Agnes Cemetery in Utica.
