HERKIMER – Mrs. Janet A. Risi, age 88, of Herkimer, NY, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Valley Health Services, surrounded with family love.
She was born in Mechanicville, New York, on November 9, 1933, the daughter of the late Angelo and Sara (Coffey) Lawrence and she attended Dolgeville schools. On June 30, 1962, Vincent Risi and Janet were united in marriage. Together they shared in over 50 years of marriage. Vincent passed away November 2, 2015. She was a parishioner of the Church of Sts. Anthony and Joseph. She at one time had worked with the Library Bureau and the Folts Home and lastly with Herkimer County Trust as a teller.
Janet was an unassuming person who welcomed everybody into her home. She was warm and kind. Her life revolved around her family and time spent with her children and grandchildren was priceless to her.
She is survived by two children, Vincent A. Risi (Carrie Rex), of Herkimer and Christina Risi (Dawn Williams), of East Syracuse; her grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley VanCourt), Brett (Jaci Wolcott) and Janell Risi (Freddie Linen); four great-grandsons; in-laws, Richard Risi and wife, Loretta, of Herkimer, Angela Vella, of Albany and Mary Ann Millar and her husband, Arnold, of Ilion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by siblings, Rita Kroon (Anton) and John Lawrence as well as her husband and parents.
The funeral will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 9:00 AM, in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring. There will be no public calling hours.
Her family has planned all funeral arrangements with the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer, NY, Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia (315) 866-1011.
