Mrs. Janet Ida Ayers 88 of 945 State Rt. 29A Salisbury Center, died Friday August 8, 2014 at her residence with her family at her side.



She was born in the Town of Salisbury on February 25, 1926 the daughter of the late Rhodie and Viola (Comstock) Ayers and was a graduate of Stratford School class of 1942. She continued her education by attending the Mildred Ellie Business College, earning a Certificate of Business.



Janet was employed by area companies, including Cherry Burrell Company during World War II, the Daniel Green Shoe Company, as well as being a licensed Real estate broker for Strout Realty. She was also the former owner of the Emmonsburg Grill retiring from there in 1995.



Her friends and family will remember her for her gardening, cooking and crocheting, along with her interests in traveling. Most recently she completed a cruise to Alaska.



She is survived by a son and his wife Allan and Stephanie Boyer of Dolgeville, a Daughter Elaine Owens of Martinez Lake, AZ, a Sister in law Celia Ayers of Salisbury Center, 11 Grandchildren 17 Great grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Claudia Alford a brother Martin Ayers, her sisters and their husbands Louise & Robert Pollard and Reba & Harry Krawec and a grandson Richard Gray.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 11 AM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Rev. Timothy Hume-Behrendt, of the Salisbury Center Universalist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Salisbury Rural Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-7 PM.



Memorials may be sent to the S & S Ambulance Corps in her memory at 75 North Helmer Avenue Dolgeville, New York 13329. envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
