HERKIMER – Jan S. Taylor, age 72, of Herkimer, New York, passed away on August 17, 2025, unexpectedly while visiting family in Saratoga Springs, NY (Town of Milton).
Born March 24, 1953, in Herkimer, NY, she was the daughter of William Ford Taylor and Marion S. Lowell Taylor. Jan was a 1972 graduate of Poland Central Schools and specialized in food services at Herkimer County BOCES.
She held a few jobs for a short time over the years: Allegro Shoe Company in Little Falls, Burger King at the Schuyler rest stop on the NYS Thruway, and, most recently, Remington Arms as a supervisor for the developmentally disabled. She enjoyed watching TV, knitting, reading, solving puzzles, cooking, baking, and traveling with her family.
Jan also enjoyed spending time with family, especially her two grandsons. She would always have a funny story or joke to tell, which left one laughing, especially at her jokes; her delivery was in a matter-of-fact tone. She was a fairly quiet person, but if she had something to say, she never held back.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two nephews, Joseph Barrett Jr. and Raymond Taylor Jr.; one brother, George Taylor; three sisters-in-law, Kathleen Taylor, Laura Taylor, and Judith Taylor; one brother-in-law, Gilbert Rotach; and a grandson, Phillip Frolish.
She is survived by her daughter Tina Frolish (Alex), a grandson Peter Frolish II all of Saratoga Springs, three brothers Raymond Taylor of Cold Brook, Fredrick Taylor of Arizona, William Taylor (Sue) of Massena, and four sisters Carol Rotach of New Hartford, Linda Countryman of Remsen, Patricia Welch of New York Mills, and Gail Warchol (Larry Finelli) of New Hartford. Plus, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the Saratoga County Sheriff's office, Community Ambulance, the Saratoga County Coroner's office, Saratoga Hospital, and Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Homes for their compassion and care.
In place of flowers, donations may be made in Jan's name to Toys for Tots, Wounded Warrior Project, or the Herkimer County Meals on Wheels. Opportunities to support these valiant organizations are available by visiting the funeral home website at www.eneafamily.com on the Internet.
On Thursday, September 4th, 2025, at 10:00 AM, a very special graveside service in honor of Jan will be held at Mohawk Cemetery (John Street in the Village). Family and friends are invited to this brief time of prayer and reflection. A lunch reception will follow.
Jan’s forethought to prearrange her wishes with The Enea Family Funeral Home at 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, New York, was very appreciated during this difficult time.
