James M. Tutty

HERKIMER – James M. Tutty, affectionately known to us as “Big Jim,” passed away at the age of 38 on Sunday December 16, 2018, in Herkimer , NY . It is a comfort to us to know that Jim’s passing was a result of heart and health complications.

He was born on February 21, 1980, in Herkimer, to parents Charles Jennett and Cynthia Tutty. He went to Mohawk and Ilion schools, graduating with Ilion High School ‘Class of 1998.’ His marriage to Patricia J. Eckert took place February 10, 2006, in Mohawk. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was last employed with Remington Arms, Ilion as an assembler and at one time worked with United Cerebral Palsy. Jim’s dedication to his wife and children was unending. He was a coach of football and baseball within the Herkimer Pop Warner and Little League. He excelled at painting, woodworking, was a talented artist and even built his own furniture as well as a tree house within a tree! He was ever so family oriented and was always seen throughout the neighborhoods when the family lived on North Main Street and then Eureka Ave. He was a big kid at heart and was loved by all.

He will be dearly missed and is survived by his beloved family, his wife, Patricia; his children, Gracie Jo, James, Kaitlyn and Hunter; his stepson, Robert; his stepdaughter, Ryann; his mom, Cynthia Tutty; his dad, Charlie Jennett; his sister, Nicole Jennett; several nieces and nephews; his half – brother, Dustin and his wife, Christina Hunt; his grandparents, James and June Tutty; his aunt, who was like a sister to him, Jackie Grimshaw and her husband, Adam; his grandmother, Nancy Cornell; his mother – in – law, Jo Purcell; his brother – in – law, William Eckert and his wife, Jackie; his Godmother, Jackie Murphy; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his great – grandfather, Albert “Red” Jennett; father – in – law, William Purcell; and his Godfather, William Murphy.

Services will be Friday December 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Mohawk Reformed Church with Pastor Brian Engle officiating, followed by a luncheon downstairs. There will be no calling hours.

There will be a scholarship account to benefit Jim’s children established and those wishing may consider a donation to this. A memorial fund for Jim’s kids has been set up at the  NBT Bank, 399 East Albany Street , in Herkimer , NY 13350 .  Checks can be made out to Children of James Tutty and mailed to the location which is located near Hannaford Supermarket.   Envelopes will be available at the service or by contacting the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Town of Frankfort ) Ilion , NY .
