James Dennis Welch

On February 10, 2026, James D. “Jimmer” Welch of Frankfort passed away at Wynn Hospital with his family by his side.

Born on September 27, 1946, in Little Falls, NY to John J. and Lillian (Kast) Welch. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Little Falls in 1964. He served in the Army National Guard from January 1974 to January 1977. He worked at Remington Arms as an assembler where he retired with 40 years of service. Jim was an avid Hunter, Master Woodworker and a man of many traits, from fixing the littlest things to building a home on Sugar Mountain, where he resided with his late wife Kathy. Jim and Kathy (Williams) married on July 10, 1982, and had a blissful marriage of 42 years until her passing on September 4, 2024.

He is survived by his children, Scott J. and Wendy Welch of Little River, SC, Daniel M. and Tami Welch of Ilion, NY, Andrea M. Welch and her husband Mike DiGeorgio. His grandchildren, Nathaniel Welch, Christina and Austin Johns, Nicholas and Meghan Welch, Daniel M. Welch Jr, Haylee Welch and Josh Pugh, Austin Welch and Shayla Donnelly, Joshua and Ashley Mead, Jenna and Anthony Palmitesso, and Johnathan Welch and also 10 great grandchildren and two on the way.

He is additionally survived by his sisters and brother in-law, Catherine and William Gale, Patrica Perry and Mary Tomaso and several nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Kathy Elaine Welch and sister Carolyn Gehring.

The family would like to give a special "Thank You" for the very compassionate and professional care given to our Father while in the ICU at Wynn Hospital.

Jimmer's obituary was thoughtfully composed by his family. In keeping with Jimmer's wishes, there will not be any formal services. Arrangements have been placed under the care The Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, located at 4309 Acme Road in Ilion, New York.
