ILION – James “Jimmy” Crossway, age 61, of Mohawk and Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Little Falls Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born on March 9, 1965, in Ilion, the son of Robert S. and Angela (Terzo) Crossway. He graduated from Ilion Central High School and attended Mohawk Valley Community College. Jimmy was the owner-operator-chef at Crossway’s Tavern, Ilion, for 31 years. He attended the Church of the Annunciation and served as an altar boy. Mr. Crossway was also a former member of the Ilion Elks Lodge and Ilion Moose Lodge.Jimmy loved playing football during his school years, especially in High School. He continued his love for football being a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills, attending dozens of games throughout the years.Jimmy was a wonderful Son, Grandson, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Godfather and Uncle, always being Loyal to all!Jimmy was an excellent Musician, playing in various Bands, including :Casus Billi, Diabolus, Toast and The Bomb.Jimmy was a familiar figure in CNY Venues, often described as someone who taught people how to have fun and live life to the fullest.A Third Generation owner and operator over 31 years at Crossway’s Tavern, Jimmy was an excellent Cook and loved to work with his customers. He possessed a Magnetic Personality. EVERYONE LOVED JIMMY !!!Surviving family members include his mother, Angela (Crossway) Blauvelt, and her husband, Doug; two daughters, Kimberly Crossway and Alicia Crossway; two sons, James Crossway, Jr. and Joseph Crossway; five grandchildren, Eli, Cameron, Avery, Danielle and Gabriel; three sisters, Renee Fultz, and her husband, Don, Jennifer Crossway and Melody Crossway; one brother, Brandon Crossway; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was predeceased by his sister, Tiffany Brown; his father, Robert Crossway; his grandmother, Alice Crossway; his grandfather, Robert N. Crossway; and his maternal grandparents, Teddi and Jim Terzo.Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s Larger Location, at 4309 Acme Road, Ilion (between Ilion and Frankfort). A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life and Prayer Service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Monday, at the Funeral Home, at the conclusion of the calling hours. Burial will be on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the convenience of the family, at the Mohawk Cemetery.Anyone wishing to share a memory of Jimmy or add to his online memorial, may go to www.applegateandday.com on the Internet.The Crossway family would like to thank the nursing staff at Little Falls Hospital for their compassion and kindness and caring of Jimmy during his Comfort Care.In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, you may give a memorial contribution in Jimmy’s memory to the Little Falls Hospital Nursing Staff, 140 Burwell Street, Little Falls, NY 13365, who were part of Jimmy’s Comfort Care Team.
