MOHAWK – Mr. James C. Childs, Jr., age 65, of Devendorf Street, Mohawk, NY, passed away on July 14, 2023, at Lutheran Care.
Jim was born in Herkimer, NY, on May 14, 1958, the son of James C. Sr. and Mary S. (Myers) Childs. He was raised and educated locally and briefly served in the Air Force.
In 1986, Jim was wed to Mary C. Matteson and they spent over thirty-five years of marriage together. His beloved wife passed one year to the day of Jim’s, July 14, 2022.
For some time, Jim worked at Remington Arms. He loved being with Mary and the children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother, Mary S. Childs, of Mohawk; his brother, Mark and wife, Mary Childs, of Syracuse; along with uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and extended family of grandchildren and others. He was predeceased by his father and wife.
Jim’s family gathered privately to lay his earthly remains to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. His final arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
