James ?Beekie? Beekman, 83 of Caroga Lake, passed away on Friday February 18, 2005 at his home. He was born In St. Johnsville, the son of the late Anthony Butler & Hazel (Bulger) Beekman. Jim was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School the class of 1940. He was married to the former Elizabeth J. ?Betty ? Wessel who preceded him in death on December 13, 2002. Mr. Beekman was a World War II Navy veteran. He was last employed at the S & J Groves Construction in Syracuse. Mr. Beekman was a 50 year member of the St. Johnsville F&AM #611. Beekie is survived by a daughter, Toni Putnam and husband Jim of Fort Plain, a sister; Barbara Kany of Dolgeville, 3 grandsons; James Hext and Cheryl Place of Ephratah, Mitchell James Hext and wife Kimberly of Richfield Springs, & Christopher Ryan Putnam of Fort Plain, 5 great grandchildren; Anthony James Beekman Hext & Kasie Nicole Hext, Shawn Mitchell, Jessica Ann, Jerikah Nicole Hext, and several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 23, 2005 at 11:00 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY with Reverend R.W. Williams of Mt. Valley Hospice, officiating. Spring interment will be in St. Johnsville, Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday February 22, 2005 from 6-8 pm. Members of the St. Johnsville F& AM are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm for services. All memorial contributions may be made to Caroga Lake Ambulance Corp. or the Mt.
