SALISBURY – Howard E. DeCarr, age 78, beloved brother and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, August 2, 2024. His passing occurred in the privacy and comfort of his home.
Born in Herkimer on June 10, 1946, Howard was the son of the late Roderick T. and Izetta M. (Murphy) DeCarr. He was raised and educated locally and attended Ilion schools. For many years, he was employed by Empire Recycling in Utica.
Howard was a man who enjoyed the simplicity of life and he was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. He could often be found playing a good game of horseshoes or cornhole at family gatherings, with a smile on his face and love in his heart. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his siblings, Catherine Jenkins of Syracuse, Deanna Jenkins of Massachusetts, Oliver DeCarr of Rome and Patricia Hicks of Ilion; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousin and friends.
Aside from his parents, Howard was predeceased by his siblings, Janice Broadbent, Nancy Ellis and Joanne DeCarr.
In keeping with Howard’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. His family will lay him to rest in Prospect Cemetery at their convenience.
