Howard Alson "Al" Mowers

FRANKFORT – Howard Alson Mowers "Al", 86, passed away at home in Frankfort on July 15, 2018. He was born on November 21, 1931 in Watervliet, New York. He was the son of Harold Leander Mowers and Marguerite G. Klomp. Howard was raised by his mom and step-dad Raymond Hayes. He was a graduate of Corry High School in PA. On August 25, 1951, he married Madalyn Louise Lines in Corry. She passed away on March 28, 2016. The couple dedicated their lives to raising and caring for their family. He retired from Tennessee Gas Transmissions, West Winfield, NY after 35 years of service as a welder. Howard was a jack- of- all trades and helped family and friends alike. He was an outstanding mechanic and skilled carpenter, electrician, and plumber. If a job was worth doing, it was worth doing well. Mediocrity was not an option. His hobbies included working on cars, woodworking and hunting. He very much enjoyed being in nature and watching the birds, turkey, and deer. Howard is survived by a son Howard (Ted) and his wife Lynn Mowers; daughters Rene' Roth, Cindy Brewer and her husband Rick, Lisa Hatalla, and Amy and her husband Paul Atwell; 16 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a half-sister, Virginia Mowers; sisters – in – law, Amy Lines and Margaret "Peg" Mowers; and a lifelong friend Clarence Madison. He is predeceased by a brother Theodore I. Mowers and a half-sister Mary Lou Connolly. Memorial services for family and friends will be on Wednesday July 18, 2018 at 10 AM at Norwich Corners Christian Church, 10233 Roberts Road, Sauquoit, NY 13456. Pastor Walt Wharram will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the church.
