Helen Smith

Helen I. Smith, 83, of Cottage St., St. Johnsville passed away on Tuesday May 6, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, NY. She was born November 30, 1924 in St. Johnsville the daughter of the late Jay A. and Rheta (Sitts) Lenig and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School. Her marriage to Wesley S. ?Red? Smith took place on June 21, 1946 at St. John?s Reformed Church in St. Johnsville. The couple shared a blessed union of 53 years until the passing of Mr. Smith on June 6, 1999. Mrs. Smith was employed at the former Little Falls Footwear in St. Johnsville. A woman devoted to her family, Helen proved herself a loving and caring mother, sister and grandmother. Survivors include her son, Danny Jay Smith and friend Addie Cronin of Gloversville, a sister, Joan Mosher of St. Johnsville, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews & cousins. She was pre-deceased by a daughter Linda Myers, and a brother, Donald J. Lenig. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 9, 2008 at 11:00 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, with Sister Johanne McCarthy, Parish Life Director of St. Patrick?s Church, St. Johnsville officiating. Burial will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday May 8, 2008 from 6-8 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to S.A.V.A.C.
