January 29, 1950 — February 11, 2026

Little Falls

Mrs. Helen A. Schwiler, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Albany Medical Center.

Helen was born on January 29, 1950, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Casimer and Elizabeth Fietkiewicz (Belansky). She graduated from Little Falls High School in 1968. She then furthered her education at Herkimer County Community College, receiving two associates degrees, one being in Secretarial Science. This led her to her job as a secretary at Herkimer County Boces.

On December 8, 1979, Helen was wed to Bernard Schwiler at the Holy Trinity Church. The couple shared a devoted union of almost 37 years until Bernie’s passing on August 31, 2016. Helen and Bernard were inseparable; she missed him every day.

Helen will be remembered for her quiet, kind personality and devotion to her family. She greatly enjoyed cooking and watching the Food Network; she was an expert canner. She loved sports, especially football and had a great passion for needlework.

Helen is survived by her cherished daughter, Megan Schwiler, her sister Eva Fietkiewicz, brother-in-law, Eugene Schwiler and her nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Melissa, Paul, and their families as well as cousins locally and across the country. Helen also leaves behind her lifelong friend, Linda (Cecconi) Carley.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bernard; her parents, her older infant sister, Regina Fietkiewicz, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Veronica and Paul Cizik.

In keeping with Helens wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately. Those wishing to honor Helen may consider a memorial donation made to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Donations can be made online or by mail, to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73 Mohawk, NY 13407.
