HERKIMER - Helen Patricia Massinger, age 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 25, 2015 at the Siegenthaler Center, New Hartford.
Helen was born on October 24, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Alvin George Massinger and Helen Elizabeth (Thompson) Massinger. She relocated to the Mohawk Valley in Herkimer, NY in 1995. Helen greatly enriched the lives of all who knew her. She had a contagious smile and loved to laugh. Helen was cared for in a loving and happy way by the staff and volunteers of the Herkimer Area Resource Center. With the help of the HARC, Helen was able to have a fulfilling and comfortable life.
She is survived by her brothers, Al Massinger and his wife, Dorothy of Herkimer, Walt Massinger and his wife, Linda of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, niece and nephews, Maria, Tim and TJ and great nephew, Michael.
The family would like to thank the staff and the volunteers of the Herkimer Area Resource Center for caring for Helen and for being an important part of her life. We would also like to thank the Siegenthaler Center for helping Helen's last days to be peaceful.
Her funeral arrangements are with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY and are under the direction of Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea, (315) 866-1011. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Thursday January 29th, 2015 from 3 until 6 PM. At 5:15 PM on Thursday Father Quy Vo will offer funeral prayers for Helen at the funeral home chapel. The visitation will conclude at 6:00 PM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service Saturday January 31st, 2015 10:00 A.M., at LOGAN FUNERAL HOME, 57 South Eagle Rd., Havertown, PA 19083, where friends may call from 10:00 A.M., Saturday, at the Funeral Home. Interment will be SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. The family prefers contributions to either Herkimer Area Resource Center, P.O. Box 271, Herkimer, NY 13350 or to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
