FRANKFORT - Mrs. Helen L. Griffith, age 90 of Frankfort, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded with family love on Sunday evening September 7, 2014.
She was born on May 17, 1924 in Ilion, NY a daughter of the late Frank J. and Katherine (Wake) Lynch. A graduate of Ilion High School, Helen went on to obtain her Bachelor's degree after four years of study with Utica College and Syracuse University. She was united in marriage to World War II Veteran C. Robert Griffith. She retired from the Utica City School System as an English teacher. She was a member of the Church of Annunciation, Ilion.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn Griffith, of Vestal, NY, Joanne Boardman and husband, Joseph, of Rome, NY, and Barbara Vandish, of Utica; her sister, Ann Massaro, of Herkimer; grandchildren, Joseph Boardman, Jr. and wife, Kathryn, Emily Craft and husband, Scott, and Philip Boardman; two great-grandchildren, Bridget and Evelyn and soon to be great-grandson baby boy. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Her funeral arrangements have been planned with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY and are under the direction of Funeral Directors Harry & Kevin Enea (315) 894-8000. There are no calling hours. A memorial service shall be held on Thursday the 18th of September 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Annunciation, West Street in Ilion, NY, with Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
