MOHAWK - Helen Borowicz, age 81, of Mohawk, NY, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Arden Courts Assisted Living Facility, Tampa, FL.
She was born in Richfield Springs, NY, the daughter of Charles and Martha Karpowich, and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. She was married to John Borowicz in E. Herkimer in 1949 and was predeceased by him in 2008. Prior to retirement, Helen was a long-time employee of Morrisville-Eaton Central School District.
Survivors include her son, Bob Borowicz and his wife, Lisa, of Tampa, FL; her daughter, Doreen Borowicz, and grandson, Devon Mancini, of Lake George, NY; her sisters, Mary Alexczuk, of Mohawk, and Rose Merrick and her husband, Frank, of Mohawk; her brothers, John Karpowich, of Ilion, Kazmir Karpowich and his wife, Eleanor, of Mohawk, and Art Karpowich and his wife, Coke, of Richfield Springs, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Entwistle.
Calling hours are Saturday, April 30, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home's new location at 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion. A Graveside Service for family members will immediately follow at the Mohawk Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY. Envelopes are available at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home.
The Borowicz family has entrusted all service arrangements and supervision to their family Funeral Director, Don Applegate.
