Hazel Mathews

Mrs. Hazel S. Mathews 91 of 117 State Rt. 29 Salisbury Center, died unexpectedly Tuesday September 1, 2009 at the Alpine Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Little Falls. She was born in Marshlands, Pa. on December 24, 1917 the daughter of Luther and Eva (McClain) Smith and was educated in schools in Pennsylvivana. Her marriage to Robert E. Mathews took place on November 26, 1948 in Herkimer, New York. Mr. Mathews predeceased her on February 4, 1999. Hazel was employed by the Dolgeville Central School as an account clerk/secretary for the business office under Richard Jorrey. She retired from there several years ago. She was of the Methodist faith attending the Dolgeville United Methodist Church, along with assisting the ladies of the Salisbury Center Methodist Church in church functions. Her other affiliation was with the Salisbury Center Grange. She personally enjoyed gardening at her home, both with flowers and vegetables. Surviving is a daughter Diane L. Mathews with whom she resided, a Son and daughter in law Rodney A. and Leona Mathews of Dolgeville, her Grandson Ryan, and a granddaughter Crystal. Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday September 26th, 2009 at 1PM in the Salisbury Rural Cemetery. Rev. Robert Jeffers will officiate. There are No calling Hours.
