FRANKFORT – Grace M. Laura, age 74, a longtime Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Grace was born in San Cipirello, Sicily, Italy on December 1, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Philip and Rosalia (Ventimiglia) Laura. As a baby, Grace came to the United States with her family and was raised and educated in Frankfort schools.
Grace was a hairdresser and beautician throughout the years as well as a member of the Frankfort Garden Club, the S.S. Maria Addolorata Society and the Columbiana Society.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jane Laura of Leesburg, Virginia; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Allen Thornton of Frankfort; by her sister-in-law, Matia Laura of Frankfort; and by one grandson, Stone Hickey; as well as by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grace was predeceased by her beloved son, John Hickey, Jr; by her sister, Nina Zaffarano; and by her brother, Anthony Laura.
In keeping with Grace’s wishes, her earthly remains will be laid to rest in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort at the convenience of her family.
