Georgena Hurrell

Georgena Hurrell, 99, of Van Rensselaer Manor, Troy, and a former Fort Plain resident, passed away on Saturday January 4, 2003, at the Van Rensselaer Manor. She was born March 27, 1903, in Fort Plain the daughter of the late George and Theresa (McMunn) Hurrell. Georgena was a graduate of Fort Plain High School. Miss Hurrell was last employed for GTE in Johnstown where she held the position of telephone operator supervisor, retiring in 1968. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was also a member of its Altar Rosary Society. Georgena had a strong family devotion in which she centered her life around her extended family. Along with her family she acquired a deep love for all animals. Survivors include a niece, Deborah Sheely of Norfolk, Va.; a great nephew; Michael Sheely and wife Mariella of Delmar; and a great niece, Theresa Derubeis and husband Joseph of Norfolk, Va. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Fort Plain Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to a local catholic charity.
