George E. "Butch" Weller, age 60, of 152 Turin St., Rome, formerly of Ilion, the Valley, Unadilla Forks, and Florida entered into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ, Tuesday, September 21, 2004. Butch was born July 21, 1944 in Unadilla Forks, sone of John and Joyce Brown (Roberts) Bulinski. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the US Army Special Forces as a Green Beret. Butch drove trucks for 32 years retiring in 1997. He was last employed by the US Postal Service and prior to that was employed by Swift Co. of Syracuse. He was a member of the Gospel Life Baptist Church and a former member of the Berean Baptist Church in W. Palm Beach, FL. Butch was a computer enthusiast. He was a devout Christian with an unbending faith. He leaves his devoted and beloved son, Chad Ward of Mohawk; a special aunt, Arden Austin of Rome; close friend, Florence Ward of Ilion; four sisters, Joyce Hinz, Alice Riley, Susan Sayre, all of FL, and Bonnie Dean of AZ; one brother, Peter Roberts of Michigan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents. Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept 25th, from 12-2 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Butch's funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home with Pastor Luke Brinkerhoff of the Gospel Life Baptist Church officiating. A graveside committal service will full military honors will be held 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2nd, at Unadilla Forks Cemetery.
