HERKIMER - Mr. George Vanish, of North Prospect Street in the Village of Herkimer, NY passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday March 20th 2014.
He was born on August 24,1949 in Little Falls, a son of the late Laurence and Irene (Mager) Vanish. He was educated in Oppenheim schools and the family lived on Brockett Hill at one time. He went on to attend Herkimer County Community College along with Oneonta State College. George taught school at one time in Stratford and various schools. He also worked with the Fulton County Department of Social Services. Most recently George took pride in his apartment building and worked as the afternoon manager with the Prospect Inn Complex in Herkimer.
He is survived by his half sisters, Carol L. Perkins, of Little Falls and Retha Palmer, of Rhode Island.
A graveside service will be held later this spring at Stratford Cemetery. There are NO calling hours. His funeral plans are with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY. Harry & Kevin Enea Funeral Directors. 315-823-2424.
