George N. Bongiorno, age 72 of Litchfield Street, Frankfort passed away Thursday evening, July 14, 2005 at the V. A. Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. Mr. Bongiorno was born in Frankfort on July 11, 1933, a son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Sylvester) Bongiorno. He graduated from Frankfort schools. As a veteran of the military, he served with the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and was honorably discharged in August of 1956. Mr. Bongiorno was a lifelong resident of Frankfort. He was also a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed drawing and artwork. He also had a special talent for cooking. He will be missed dearly. He is survived by two beloved sons, Philip Bongiorno and his wife Joan of Deansboro, and Joseph Bongiorno of Frankfort; a brother, Anthony Bongiorno and his wife Mary of Frankfort; four sisters, Rose Bongiorno and Fran Bongiorno, both of Frankfort, Agnes Salvagio and Terry Bongiorno, both of Ilion; one sister-in-law, Betty Bongiorno; one brother-in-law, Bill Clements; three special grandchildren, Felicia, Amanda, and George; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Mary Bongiorno in 1980; two brothers, Dominick and Philip Bongiorno; and one sister, Marie Clements. The Bongiorno family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Main Street, between Frankfort and Ilion, on Monday, July 18, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Bongiorno's funeral will commence at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 410 S. Frankfort St., Frankfort, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Alfred Lamanna, pastor emeritus. Procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider contributions to his memorial fund. Envelops will be available at the funeral home.
