ILION – Mr. George J. Amendolare, Sr., 77, of 100 West Main Street, Ilion, passed away December 7, 2023, at Wynn Hospital.
He was born on November 5, 1946, in Ilion, New York, a son of the late Charles and Angeline (Internicola) Amendolare and attended Frankfort schools. He was married to Judith A. (Mower-Elthorp) Amendolare. He worked as a custodian at ISD 701 Hibbing School District, in Hibbing, Minnesota and as a security officer for airports and hospitals, in Hibbing, as well and held the rank of Captain. He also worked for the State Highway Department, out of Herkimer, New York. He was a communicant of Historic Old St. John’s Church, Utica and served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister there. He was faithful to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of the Yorkville Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, the Ilion Fish & Game Club and the Addolorata Society. His hobbies were targeting practice and building model ships.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; his three kids, Kelly Joaquin, George Amendolare and Wayne Amendolare; and a bunch of friends.
Funeral services will be held this coming week, at the convenience of the family. There will be a Funeral Mass in his honor, at Historic Old St. John’s Church, Utica and spring burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, New York.
