ILION - Genevieve (Gen) G. Dack/Geloso, 84, of the Prindle Apartments and a longtime resident of Elm Street, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on October 31, 2023, at Wynn Hospital.
She was born on December 15, 1938, in Ilion, a daughter to the late Warren and Ormetta (Hawley) Jones. She graduated from Ilion High School, class of 1956 and was active in sports. Gen maintained many significant friendships throughout life with her classmates. She was married to William Arthur Dack until 1967. Following William’s death, she worked at Mohawk Valley Florist where she met and married Joseph Geloso. Their union welcomed her into the wonderful Geloso family. Gen was witty and friendly to all and she loved her family and friends wholeheartedly. She was thoughtful and took time for others, creating plastic canvas name tags for all her neighbors and holiday décor for her family. She had a memory for all family events and was her children and grandchildren’s wise advisor and confidant. She enjoyed reading and watching Hallmark Channel movies on television.
Genevieve is survived by her children, Cynthia Dack – Fauler (Matt), Russell William Dack (Kristen) and William Warren Dack (Joyce); her grandchildren, Luke, Andrea (Kevin), and Jake, Owen and Olivia, Andrew, Alex (Emily) and Erica (Rafael).
She was predeceased by her twin sister, Barbara Jones; and her sister, Patty Jones Stafford.
Our family would like to recognize the care and compassion provided by the staff at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare and subsequently Wynn Hospital, Utica. Also, the exceptional care provided by her children, especially Joyce and Bill Dack.
