FRANKFORT - Mr. Gary P. Reinhardt, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Wynn Hospital in Utica, New York.
Born on July 15, 1946, Gary, son of the late Albert and Myrtle (Peters) Reinhardt, was
the seventh of eight children. A lifelong resident of the Mohawk Valley, Gary was raised
and educated in Whitesboro and served honorably in the 106th transportation battalion
of the Army before settling in Frankfort, where he lived for almost 50 years.
On May 22, 1976, Gary was united in marriage to Linda J. (Cioch) Reinhardt at the
North Columbia Church, and together they shared in a devoted union of over forty-two
years. Linda passed away on January 19, 2019.
Gary was a hardworking and tenacious man of many talents. If a thing had to be done,
Gary accomplished it with focus and determination. He built the home he lived in for
over 45 years, was skilled in various aspects of car repairs and could find a way to
repair just about anything. He was employed at Union Fork & Hoe Company, which then
became Union Tools, until his retirement.
Gary was a devoted family man and a loving husband, father and grandfather who was
loved in equal measure and will be missed dearly. Gary was approachable and enjoyed
people; it was a rare thing for Gary to go somewhere in the area and not know
someone. His generous spirit extended to friends and neighbors, with whom he enjoyed
a close-knit community. Gary maintained an open-door policy, and his home was a
gathering place. Gary could often be found at home entertaining friends, where many
hours were spent discussing old cars and trucks.
Gary is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Raquel "Rocky" and Ted Kocab;
granddaughters, Sophia, Isabella and Olivia; daughter, Rebekah Reinhardt;
granddaughter, Shadow; great-granddaughter, Sophia; sister and brother-in-law, Carole
and Earl Haman; brother, Fred Reinhardt; sister-in-law, Catherine Reinhardt; brother and
sister-in-law, Neil and June Reinhardt; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Diana
Reinhardt; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diane and Barry Williams; sister-in-law,
Joanne Hoskey; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Linda Reinhardt; brothers Norman, David and Carlton;
as well as numerous in-laws, including Charlotte and James Ferguson and Donald
Hoskey.
In keeping with Gary's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Final arrangements were entrusted to the Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors. Online notes of sympathy may be left at
