Mr. Gary F. Mullen, Sr., age 81, of St. Johnsville, passed away at Albany Medical Center on Saturday, December 20th, 2025.
Gary was born on May 1st, 1944, in Little Falls, NY. Son of the late Harold and Margaret Mullen (Schumacher). He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Little Falls. Gary was a great athlete and played baseball, he had signed up to play with the pros as a St. Louis Cardinal, but the draft called him to serve his country. Gary served in the United States Army overseas during the Vietnam War. Once he returned to life in Little Falls, he started a family who he loved spending time with. Gary, being his hardworking, industrious self, stayed busy working local jobs and donated and contributed his time to many Veteran related causes. Gary enjoyed spending time outdoors with his children, listening to music really loud and making people laugh. He was a naturally good, light-hearted and kind person. He took his faith very seriously and found comfort and peace with knowing the Lord.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother Harold Mullen.
He is survived by his children, Christa M. Mullen of Idaho and Gary F. Mullen, Jr. of Herkimer and their mother, LuAnn Novak and her husband Rick. He also leaves his grandson Logan Mullen, sister-in-law Gloria Mullen, and nieces and nephews, Kathy, Patty and Kevin of Vestal, NY. Gary had many cherished friendships that he made throughout his life.
Gary’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their committed care throughout Gary’s time there.
On May 19, 2026, Tuesday, at a time to be announced, Gary will be laid to rest at St. Josephs Cemetery in Dolgeville with military honors and prayer service. Family and friends are invited to attend his service.
