Gary R. Blaise

Mr. Gary R. Blaise, age 76, of Ilion, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Gary was born in Ilion on March 30, 1950, to the late Richard and Elenor Blaise (Nuese). On August 22, 1970, Gary married his high school sweetheart, JoAnn Janeka. Gary spent many years working at Remington Arms as an Electrician. After retiring, he greatly enjoyed his time hunting and skeet shooting. Gary had won the World Championship Skeet Shooting U.S Open Championship and the New York State Championship, receiving many metals.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, JoAnn Blaise, his daughter, Kristin Blaise of Tyler TX, his son, Chad Blaise and his wife Tara of Takoma MD; his beloved granddaughters; Ella and Audrey; his sister, Lynda Atkinson; his nephew, Rick Gray and his wife Amanda; his great niece and nephew, Lily and Roger. Gary's dear friends, David C., Bob and Cheryl C. and his many skeet shooting friends.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother Tommy Blaise, his in-laws, Paul and Evelyn Janeka, brother-in-laws, Paulie Janeka and Ralph Atkinson and his nephew Eric Atkinson.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be a graveside funeral service on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 10:00am at Oak View Cemetery in Frankfort, NY. Following the service, friends and family are invited to the Ilion Fish & Game Club at 11:30 am to celebrate Garys life and share memories.
