GLOVERSVILLE-Garfield E. "Greg" Ashlaw, 86, of Gloversville died
Friday, January 21, 2011 at his home with his loving wife,
family and friends by his side.
Born in Nicholville, NY he started a journey in life that would
bring him to many businesses. Known by many as "Greg", he
started working in the woods in logging camps to his final

a pilot, a crane and heavy equipment operator, a bartender,
a diver recovering underwater logs, and the owner of Matt's
car crushing business. Greg was always there to
lend a hand or advice to anyone who asked. He so loved all
his dogs and cats. You could find him with one of them at all times.
He was born to Edward Ashlaw and Alice Newtown Ashlaw on
September 18, 1924. He also had a younger sister, Loretta. He is
survived by nine nephews and nieces: Melvin Sweeney, Sharon
Bell, Leon Sweeney, Louella Wilson, Bernadette Sweeney, Dean
Lamphere, Patty Phillips, Lynn Rosselle, and Edward Cool.
He was previously married to Clarice Austin Green, and
married to Joyce Morris on December 24, 1965. At Greg's wishes
there will be no calling hours. A party will be held at a later date.
