Frederick J. Roos

FORT PLAIN - Mr. Frederick J. Roos, age 89, of the Town of Minden , passed away suddenly, on Wednesday afternoon, October 23, 2019, in Amsterdam , New York . He loved his family dearly and was always at their side.

He was born in the Bronx , a son of the late Frederick V. Roos and Natalie Sustmann and served in the United States Army, Korean Era. His marriage was to his beloved wife, Pearl (Potter). Fred was a self-employed owner and operator of Meadow View Farms, West Ames , New York . He was a past police officer in Ocean Grove and constable in Cornwall . He and Pearl also offered tender loving care to foster children through the years.

His loving family survives including his wife, Pearl; his children: Karen Hazzard and her husband, George, of Canajoharie, John “Oodles” Roos and his wife, Carole, of Salt Springville and Frederick A. Roos and his wife, Jodie, of Richfield Springs; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019. The time is private and convenient to his family with an intimate funeral home service, with Pastor Jerry Noseworthy, of the First Baptist Church, of Canajoharie, officiating, followed by a graveside interment ceremony in St. Johnsville Cemetery. There are no public calling hours.
