Mr. Frederick S. “Tyke” Paschke, age 84, a longtime Schuyler resident and currently of North Utica, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 19, 2025, with his loving family at his side.
Born in Hartford, CT on September 17, 1940, Fred was the son of the late Frederick C. and Jeanne (Kanarek) Paschke. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Ilion High School.
Throughout the years, Fred proudly worked alongside his father in the family business, Fred’s Salvage, in Schuyler. Fred was the owner and operator of the yard until his retirement.
At one time, Fred shared in a marriage with Gladys (Price) Guyton, a relationship from which came their two daughters. Fred would go on to meet and fall in love with Barbara S. (Kreimeyer) Fredel, who would become his constant companion and best friend. Together, they blended their families and enjoyed love, laughter and happiness for thirty-four years.
Fred was an old-fashioned and simple man who had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. He was a very loving father who doted on his girls and raised them on strong values of family and togetherness. In his younger years, Fred enjoyed his bowling league and was a dedicated member of the Ilion Moose Lodge. In his free time, Fred loved betting the horses, visits to the casinos and trips to Las Vegas; times spent with his dear friends, Bill and Dorothy Sutton and Linda Geloso.
Fred is survived by his longtime fiancée, Barbara S. Fredel; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and John VanDusen of Frankfort and April and James Hameline of Lakewood Ranch, FL; Barb’s children, Mary and Kevin Riley and George and Andrea Fredel; his grandchildren, Collin and Alex Riley, Cody Hameline and Joshua Hameline; his in-laws, Richard and Beverly Price and family; along with many friends, cousins and extended family members, too numerous to mention.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Jeanne; and by Barb’s parents, John “Jack” and Maryjane Kreimeyer.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services at this time. His family will gather to celebrate his life in the spring at a date and time to be announced. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Fred’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 or to a charity of one’s choice.
A special thank you is extended to the therapy staff at St. Luke’s MVHS Rehab and Nursing, with special mention of Mary and Troy, for the compassion and care shown to Fred and his family through his stay there.
Fred’s final wishes were pre-arranged and entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate, Funeral Directors. Online notes of sympathy may be left at
