ILION - Frank G. Hart, age 92, of 8 Harriett Ave., Ilion, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer.
He was born on April 11, 1920, in Ilion, the son of George and Anna (Krause) Hart, and graduated from Ilion High School. Frank was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Navy. On June 27, 1952, he was married to Jean De Lavergne in Ilion. Mr. Hart was employed as a mechanical engineer at Remington Arms Co. of Ilion for over forty years, retiring in 1981. Much of his life revolved around the game of golf. In 1960, he won the club championship at Doty's Golf Course, where he also had three holes in one.
Frank was also fond of his seven schoolmates known collectively as "The Beavers". They stayed in touch for over sixty years, and he is survived by two of these cherished friends.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Teresa Hart, of Ilion; his granddaughters, Kelly Wilkerson and Amy Antonio, of Greensboro, NC; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Donald J. Hart, and two sisters, Lucille Beck and Marie Edgett.
A Contemporary Funeral Service will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion. Spring burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, N. Ilion, NY.
Visitation will be held Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., prior to the funeral home service.
